Chapter 32

“Gill, you need to go and collect Sidney and get down to the hospital, Kirsty is in labour and we want you here. Please, I know you need your sleep before training and the game tomorrow but please Gill, please come down.”

“Calm down Geno, we will be there shortly, keep calm”.

I managed to get Sidney on his mobile phone and told him of my conversation with Geno. He came and collected me as I lived closer to the hospital.

“Come in, come in” we hear Geno shouting as we arrive. They are in a private hospital so we manage to visit at 0220.

As we walk in I see Kirsty sitting up in bed with her beautiful baby with a nurse in the corner attending to something.

“Sit down the pair of you we have something to talk to you about.” Geno says.

As we find some seats Sidney and I look at each other wondering what we have gotten ourselves into.

“We would like to call our beautiful little girl Gillian Sidney Malkin after our 2 best friends and we would like you both to be godparents” said Evgeni as he took baby Gillian from Kirsty and handed her to me.

“I can’t speak on behalf of Sidney but I can safely say that I am delighted. I would be honoured to be godmother of baby Gillian Sidney. You have brought a tear to my eye, I am so happy.” I answered as a could not longer hold back the emotion.

“I can also safely say that I would be honoured to be godfather to baby Gillian Sidney, it means so much to me that you think so highly of us that you want us to be such a big part of your child’s life”.

Sidney and I eventually went home for a couple of hours sleep before training. We were over the moon about what had just happened. Thankfully tonight’s game is at home so Geno will only be away from Kirsty and the baby for a few hours. I told him if he was feeling confident enough he could miss training this morning as long as he was at the Melon Arena in time for the team meeting and meal.

I love the name - that is so cute! And I can totally picture Sidney being a godparent someday! :)
More soon, please!
