Chapter 37

Just then he turned away and went to get up, I could see he had a little box in his shirt pocket which I had a funny feeling must have been an engagement ring.

“Sidney, where do you think you are going” I said softly as I took a hold of his hand and pulled him back down to sit beside me again.

He started to speak again.

“Gill, I realise what I have asked is a big step but I know it is the direction I want to go in. I am aware that you have been married before so therefore you may not want to get married again, I will understand that and it will not change anything, I will still love you all the same”.

Although he was sitting beside me he would not look me in the eye. I put my hand on his face and turned it so he was looking at me and put one finger on his lips so that he didn’t say anymore. I looked into his stunning brown eyes which were still very nervous looking feeling my own eyes stinging from holding back tears of joy.

“Are you going to let me talk now?” I asked. He nodded his head and I could see tears were starting to form in his eyes. I took a hold of both his hands and held them tightly.

“I love you Sidney with all my heart, you make me so happy. I know that when we first met we had our ups and downs but we got through them and have formed an amazing relationship which continues to grow everyday.

“Yes, I have been married before and it was unfortunate that Paul died, however, that does not change they way I feel for you, I still miss him and love him, I always will but that does not affect what our future may hold.

“You made me realise that I could love again Sidney, that it was possible to find another soul mate. We are meant to be so therefore I would love to be Mrs Crosby, I could not think of anything better.”

At this point we both stopped holding back the tears, we held on to each other so tightly and finally kissed. His lips tasted salty from his tears, he has the most gorgeous full lips that I never get tired of kissing.

“I love you Mr Crosby” as I said as I wiped away his tears.

“I love you too future Mrs Crosby”. He said with a look of relief and finally allowing himself to smile.

He went to stand up again.

“Sidney, what is in the box?”

“Oh my god, how could I forget?” He sat back down taking a red velvet box from his shirt. This time he was on one knee and asked me again to marry him and presented me the most gorgeous engagement ring.
